Archaeological evidence shows lentils were eaten 9,500 to 13,000 years ago, making them one of the worlds oldest foods.

The problem is they some times taste like they are the same ones.

This should be an easy dish, simple and uncomplicated.

It should not have a lot of ingredients, and does not require spicing-up.

To make it well you require absolutely no cooking skills. To fuck it up you just need to try and reinvent it!

KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!

INGREDIENTS

1 onion;

1 peeled and sliced carrot (fresh or frozen);

1 tomato;

5 cloves of garlic;

2 chorizos;

250gr lentils;

salt, pepper and olive oil.

1 medium potato (peeled and roughly diced;

STEPS

TO GET STARTED YOU NEED A MEDIUM/LARGE PAN, AND YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE THE STOVE! THE FIRST GROUP OF STEPS DO NOT REQUIRE YOU TO COOK.

1)Peel the onion, and cut of the bottom;

2)Clean the tomato and slice it in half;

3)Remove the white skin from five cloves of garlic, then make an incision in each of them, without cutting them in half;

4)Grate the onion and the tomato directly into the cold pan;

5)Add the carrots, and give them a stir. Do not start to heat the pan!;

6)Add the cloves of garlic, and give them a stir. Do not start to heat the pan!;

7)Add the lentils, and give them a stir. Do not start to heat the pan!;

8)Add a tablespoon of olive oil, and give it a stir. Do not start to heat the pan!;

9)Cut each of the chorizos into three pieces, and add to the mix. You can stir if you want, but do not start to heat the pan!;

10)Cover the mix with cold water, add a generous amount of salt, and a little pepper, and guess what, No! Place the pan on a high flame;

11)When the water begins to boil, add the potato.

It is better to add the potatoes once the water starts to boil, as they can overcook if added prior to heating the water;

12)Turn the flame down to minimum, and leave the lentils to simmer for 45 minutes;

There is no need to stir them, in fact there is no need to do anything with them, just cover the pan and leave them to simmer. They will cook all by themselves!

13)After 45 minutes, check that the vegetables are cooked (If you can't be bothered checking, don't worry, they will be ready), remove from the flame, and leave to settle (covered) for up to five minutes.

SERVE !!!
